February 2023, I was invited to the premiere of Mikkel Hess and HESS IS MORE's APOLLONIAN BLACKOUT at Teater SORT/HVID in Copenhagen. I had heard that the work was a multitembral installation of music, scenography, choreography - concert and theater and everything in between. I grabbed my camera on my way out the door... what if...!
The show opened in orange smoke; and soon I found myself in the cracks between experience and creation - as much as I was allowed to experience a performance, I was also faced with creating my experience of that performance to the extent that I maybe became a co-creator? The installation made me a part of its organism, and my camera's eye became part of the whole experience in strange ways.
The blackout also came to us in the end - as an accident or a carefully planned event disguised as an accident? This question, like the whole flow of the evenings' experience, still vibrates somewhere between yes and no, between explosion and blackout.
