The cameras I use regularly are a mix of old rangefinders & SLRs combined with newish digital gear:
1. Franka Solida III 6x6 (1956), Radionar 40mm f = 2.8
2. Canon Demi C half-format (1965), SD 28mm f = 2.8 & S 50mm F = 2.8
3. Revue 400 SE (1978), Revuenon 400 f = 1.7
4. Nikon F3 HP (1980), Series E 50mm f = 1.8
5. Fujifilm X100V (2020), Fujinon Super EBC 23mm f = 2.0
I had a Canon EOS 7D for a while but gave it up in favour of the rangefinder experience finally settling in with the Fujifilm X100V. Apart from the Fuji I've been shooting with these cameras for more than 30 years now.
The Franka Solida III is my black box zen camera as you have to slow way down to shoot it – no automation, no eyeguides, no nothing! A lot can and will go wrong while shooting which makes developing all the more fun – and the speed of todays' world seems all the more crazy while shooting with the Franka.
The Revue is light, tight and shoots with clarity. It's my going on holiday kind of camera.
The Canon Demi is fun as it shoots 72 images a roll and the glass has a great feeling to it. Kind of sharp most of the time, lots of grain and soul!
The Nikon F3 is built like a tank and it's just a thrill to hold and shoot, so it has stayed on as my only SLR option.
And finally the X100V. What can I even say. This camera is like being freed of all obstacles & bugs and it feels like doing weightless thermal flying silently on a sunny day. Almost (and probably) way too easy for my own good. But it's fun! Just remember to turn off the LCD screen while shooting or you'll end up endlessly backtracking yourself.
I guess these five cameras are all I'm ever going to need - I'm set for life!
