Saturday, September 17 in La Oficina, an old auctions house in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. The trio playing was Cæcilie Norby (vocals), Nikolaj Hess (piano) and Lars Danielsson (bass).
Intensity, expressiveness and beauty. Redemptive poetry and musical landscapes of joy and sorrow. These were some of the moods I experienced this evening in the beautiful hall of La Oficina. Cæcilie, Nikolaj and Lars' playing took me on a journey into the world of music and stories - explosions replaced by intense listening and transparency in their soundscapes. Familiar songs and free improvisations alternated between each other, always with poetry as a guide, and with this trio's wonderfully powerful commitment to each other and to each note, the evening flew by. This journey resonated with me as I headed off into the night.
